it all started with a canoe race
Frontier Days was an idea of a small group from the Milford Chamber of Commerce. In the early 1960s, they would watch 75 to 100 canoeists racing on the Little Miami River. The finish line at that time was located at the Milford bridge, where they would load their canoes and go home with no recognition given. The Chamber group decided to bring grills and coolers of drinks to the riverbank to sell to the hungry and thirsty canoeists. Soon after, the Chamber decided to name this event Frontier Days. More events began to be added to this weekend event. The finish line for the canoe races was later moved to the area behind the American Legion Post #450 and Frontier Days followed. Carnival rides and games were added as well as live entertainment and other events.The Canoe Race was abandoned years ago for fears of liability, but in our 58th year, the Chamber is happy to announce that the Canoe Race is back…as a Canoe & Kayak Float. Ticket Packages for the Canoe & Kayak Float will include beverage tickets, commemorative tee shirts, and canoe rental. Stay tuned for pricing and more Canoe & Kayak Float details.
Tickets go on Sale March 1st, 2020. In the case of a rain out or if river conditions are unacceptable, you may keep your receipt to use at Scenic River Canoe & Kayak Excursions on any other date in 2020. Keep the tee shirt, stickers, and drink tickets for use at Frontier Days on Saturday. Rider tickets will not be refunded but you keep the tee shirt, stickers, and drink tickets for use at Frontier Days. Rain-out tee shirts, drink tickets, and stickers will be available at the Milford Miami Township Chamber booth all day Saturday with purchase receipt. You may also pick up your tee shirts at the Milford Miami Township Chamber office (745 Center St. #302, Milford) after Frontier Days 2020.

Packages include a double canoe, or single or double Kayak for $49 plus tax per paddler. Double canoe “Ride Alongs” in the floor of the canoe are $24 plus tax. All boaters will receive:
- A First Annual Frontier Days Canoe Float quik dry Tee Shirt
- 2 Frontier Days vinyl stickers with the new logo
- 2 drink tickets for alcohol or soda to be used “post Float”
- Free rides back to the Festival ground after you complete the Float compliments of Scenic Canoe
Canoe: Canoes require at least 2 paying customers. Kids ages 4 to 10 can ride for $24 plus tax on the floor of the canoe with 2 paying customers. All of the canoes are the upgraded Old Town, Wenonah, and Novacraft brands. We do not offer aluminum canoes.
Kayak: All single person kayaks require, and hold a maximum of, 1 paying customer. All of the kayaks are either the Old Town Twister sit-on-top or the Jackson Riviera sit-on-top. Both are very comfortable, stable and easy to use. They’re great for beginners and our regulars love them!
Tandem Kayak: All tandem kayaks require, and hold a maximum of 2 paying customers. Tandem kayaks are the most stable boat in the fleet, very comfortable, and easy to use. The two types we carry are Jackson Rivi-T’s and Old Town’s Ocean Malibu. Availability is on a first come first serve basis.
After Registering you must also sign Scenic River Canoe’s Waiver. PDF and online form are listed below. You MUST bring the completed form with you to the event. Paper copies must be on hand for Scenic employees to collect.

- The risk of injury from the activities involved in this program is significant, including the potential for permanent
paralysis and death. - I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING
FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASERS or others, and assume full responsibility for my
participation. - I willingly agree to comply with the terms and conditions for the participation. If I observe any unusual significant
hazard during my presence or participation, I will remove myself from participation and bring such to the attention
of the nearest official immediately. - I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE,
INDEMNIFY, AND HOLD HARMLESS SCENIC RIVER CANOE EXCURSIONS, its officers, officials,
agents and/or employees, other participants, sponsors, advertisers, and, if applicable, owners and lessors of premises
used to conduct the event (RELEASEES), from any and all claims, demands, losses, and liability arising out of or
related to any INJURY, DISABILITY, OR DEATH I may suffer, or loss or damage to person or property,
WHETHER ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES OR OTHERWISE, to the fullest
extent permitted by law. - A late fee of $20.00 per boat per half hour (canoe, kayak, or transport) is enforced after 7:00p.m. daily. A FEE
OF $600.00 IS ASSIGNED PER DAMAGED OR LOST CANOE OR KAYAK. A fee of $25.00 is assigned
per damaged or lost paddle or Life Preserver.
I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY
UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY SIGNING
